Forest Walk

Forest Walk
Forest Walk Series
A personal reflection of my walks through the local bush in the Brisbane Ranges (Victoria). The bush is a rich landscape, storied by the early settler gold rush, and Indigenous history. It’s old country. A land full of quartz and slate, and valleys with rivers strung with gold.
The mixed media works in the Forest Walk Series reflect the brutality of this landscape. Jagged, angular lines represent the dry land, gouged by miners over a century ago. Haphazard spikes represent the valleys and mountain ranges that litter the long, flat plains. And the fluorescent monochrome colours are an abstraction of the oppressive browns and greens of the bush.
